Peak season:
Travellers who take cheap flights to Fiji will discover a beautiful country with friendly gracious residents. A tropical paradise, Fiji has over 333 islands of which Viti Levu and Vanua Levu are the largest of the group. Island hopping is the best way to explore all that Fiji offers, whether you’re after white sand beaches, surf breaks or hiking in a pristine natural environment. It is a popular place for weddings, honeymoons and family holidays, while adventurous tourists book cheap flights to Fiji for diving, zip lining, windsurfing and kayaking. June to September is high season when most Australian visitors arrive on flights to Fiji. Peak season is centred around the June / July school holidays and the December / January holiday period. You’ll discover prices are a lot higher during these times when you start searching for flight tickets.
Off Season:
November to April is the low season in Fiji when heavy rains, high humidity and the possibility of cyclones discourage tourists. This means you’re likely to get big discounts on accommodation and the cheapest flights to Fiji.
There are advantages to booking flights to Fiji in any season but generally the Fijian winter from May to October is the best time to visit when it’s relatively cool and dry. Temperatures can still average 30C in winter during the day but the nights are cooler. For anyone interested in diving and snorkelling, the winter months are best for 100ft visibility. You’ll need to book at least a month in advance to take advantage of lower priced options for flight tickets.

Fiji Airways is the national carrier and is based at Nadi Airport in the capital of Suva on Viti Levu. This airline operates daily direct flights to Fiji from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Virgin Australia also services flights to Fiji from these three destinations, while Jetstar operates a few flights a week from the Gold Coast and daily flights from Sydney. Once you’ve landed in Fiji, there are plenty of domestic airlines, as well as seaplanes and helicopters, to transport you to the islands.
Nadi International Airport (NAN) is located on the western side of Viti Levu and is 10 km from the tourist town of Nadi. Suva, the capital city, is situated on the eastern side of the island and is around a three hour drive from the airport. To reach either place you can book the Airport Shuttle Fiji which transfers visitors in air-conditioned comfort to any resort on the island. Prior bookings are essential. Otherwise taxis are the main mode of public transport in Fiji and these are located outside the arrivals terminal. Air-conditioned express buses also pull into the airport in front of the departure terminal and are a popular way to reach Suva, no reservations are needed.
