Cheap Flights to Tirana

Tirana overview

When is the best time to visit?

A popular time to book cheap flights to Tirana is between June and August with high temperatures and very little rainfall, this is the best time to go. Albania's climate follows that of the Mediterranean, so you will be able to enjoy glorious days of sunshine during this period.

If you want to avoid the busiest and most expensive months of the tourist season, it is best to avoid the hottest period between July and August. From April to June, the Albanian climate is somewhat cooler than the following months, but is still pleasant enough to enjoy the local attractions. Alternatively, trips in September are usually less crowded, with flights to Tirana and accommodation considerably cheaper than the peak season, making this an excellent time to visit the city.

Many people now take a cheap flight to Tirana for the Tirana Film Festival, taking place in November, a major annual event for Albania. The festival attracts large crowds, both locally and globally, as it gives tourists the opportunity to mingle with local artists after enjoying the screenings of numerous cutting edge short films that are shown throughout the week. Tirana Film Festival welcomes established directors as well as students to not only showcase their filmmaking talents, but creates an ideal middle ground for film artists and actors to meet and share their passion. As Tirana International Film festivals is the first and only festival of its kind throughout Albania, it makes it a special experience for travellers. Even if films aren’t necessarily of interest to certain travellers, it still provides unique cultural experience for tourists to embrace.  The festival takes place in the Albanian National Centre for Cinematography.

Since the fall of communism, Albania has seen a dramatic rebirth that promises a prosperous future. The country's capital city, Tirana is still, as yet, undiscovered by most tourists, but at its heart is a wealth of cultural and historic treasures. Tirana is a city where ancient meets modern, with architecture that dates back to the Roman period. Travellers with a curiosity for historic monuments will enjoy a visit to the Clock Tower in Skanderbeg Square, situated in the centre of the city. Alternatively, you can visit the astonishingly beautiful Et'hem Bey Mosque to see its wonderful decorations. The National Historic Museum is a fantastic way to find out about Tirana's history and see some of its most important artefacts up close. If you want to explore further afield, then a trip up nearby Mount Dajti by cable car offers incredible panoramic views of the city.
