When is the best time to fly to Tianjin?

With hot yet wet summers, and cold yet dry winters, you may want to consider flying to Tianjin when the weather is at its most pleasant. In the spring months of April and May, and the autumn months of September and October, the weather here is said to be at its most comfortable, making outdoor sightseeing and exploration of the city on foot most agreeable.

Tianjin overview

Serving as a vital gateway to Beijing, Tianjin is the fourth-largest city in China, and is bordered on the east by the Yellow Sea. The city's strategic location has seen it grow significantly as a tourist destination over recent years, returning it somewhat to its former glory as an imperial port. Today visitors arrive in the port of Tianjin from all over the world. Many come to discover its colourful history in person, visiting the various museums and exhibitions on offer, or simply just walking around the city and taking in the impressive architecture. Once upon a time, this Chinese city was shared between a total of eight different countries under the Eight Nation Alliance. As expected, this turbulent past has proved to interest many a local and visitor alike. One of the top attractions on Tianjin travel itineraries has to be the Ancient Culture Street. Bustling with culture, commerce, and history, this reconstructed street was designed to remember the ancient buildings of the Qing Dynasty. Don't forget your camera if you're headed here as you'll definitely want to capture the two memorial arches which bracket the street at either end. Since you're here, why not explore the traditional stores selling antiques, embroidery, jewellery, and painted sculptures on either side of the Ancient Culture Street. With over one hundred to peruse, you'll certainly find that time can fly by in this area of the city. Seasoned travellers will no doubt be accustomed to finding the odd TV or radio tower station in each city they visit, although the 'Tianta Floating Clouds" tower will no doubt be a first. As the only water-based tower in the world that offers tourists the chance to ascend to its observation decks and enjoy the views (and a unique dining experience should you wish to try out the revolving restaurant), this has got to be a must-see for anyone visiting Tianjin.

Getting around Tianjin

Don't stress about making your way around this particular city, the well thought out public transportation system of trams and metros offers a wealth of routes that will take you from A to B quickly and efficiently. There is also a basic railway system that can be used for trips further out of the city; to the city's seaside areas for example.

Getting from the Airport to the City

Once you land at Tianjin Binhai International Airport (TSN) you'll be able to make your way quickly and cheaply to the central area of the city by hopping off the plane and onto the recently-extended metro line. If you have lots to carry, why not simply grab a cab from the taxi stand at the airport for a slightly more convenient means of travel.
