November to March is considered the best time to book flights to Siem Reap. The daytime temperatures stay below 30ºC, and nights are pleasantly comfortable. This spectacular and unique event is full of festivities and attracts over 400 cyclists and 3,500 runners from 45 countries across the globe. Participants can choose from either a 17km, 30km or 100km route which encourages both keen cyclists and families to all get involved. During this event is the only time the world famous landmark’s roads are shut to traffic.
Another great time for booking a cheap flight to Siem Reap is during their Khmer New Year Festival that is celebrated for three days during April. Throughout the festival you will be able to experience traditional games such as Joal Chuung (throwing a type of long tail cushion), Bos Angkunh (bowling large fruit seeds), and Teanh Proat (tug of war). Getting downtown from the airport
Flying to Siem Reap is the easiest way to get in to the city. The Siem Reap International Airport (REP) is just 7 km away from the city centre and it takes about 20 minutes to get there. Some hotels offer free pick-up and drop facilities for guests who have booked in advance. Alternately, there are pre-paid taxi booths outside the airport. Tuk-tuks (3-wheeled rickshaws) are another common form of transport. While tuk-tuks are fairly inexpensive, prices vary from off-season to peak season. Motodop or motorbike taxis are a unique, local way to travel.
