Excellent|Feb. 2022Very nice counter people. Vehicle availability could be better, as in the particular size of vehicle reserved often is not available. My car did exactly what I wanted, 30+ mpg, FM radio, A/C trunk big enough for 2 large bags. I would rent from Avis at this location again

Okay|Jul. 2018My first time in Hawaii and I landed up reserving in the wrong airport. At OGG they told me they would charge me an extra $120 per day to change the reservation. I had to take $100 taxi to get to my car.
It wasn’t Avis s fault that I erred in the reservation, but they couldn’t care less of my predicament and were very unsympathetic. On principle I will rent from Avis again.

I was charged an EXTRA day because my inter-island flight was cancelled due to bad weather, but I still returned the car before the 48 hour mark so I should NOT have even been charged one extra penny!! The rep at Avis agreed and said I got screwed but they couldn’t alter the extra charge on my contract and said I’d have to go back in the office and stand in a huge line to get the credit, but then I’d MISS MY FLIGHT! I decided to handle it after I got back home to Maui and I emailed Avis and called them but I got NO response! I’m planning to dispute with my credit card if they don’t credit my visa and resolve this issue!

I made the reservation to pick up the car at OGG in Maui. The reservation kicked me over to pick up at the airport in West Maui, without my knowledge. When I discovered this three days before my trip, I tried to call and remedy the situation. No cars were available at OGG, which I understand, due to low inventory. The real clincher was when I told the National office in West Maui that I wouldn’t be able to pick up for an hour later than originally planned, due to now having to take an expensive Uber to get there after landing. They told me I was out of luck since the office closes at 5pm. I was basically screwed. I had to make a new reservation at Avis (last minute) for $800 more, which pretty much ruined my vacation.

Okay|Nov. 2018Overpriced.. my flight in Maui was cancelled,and it was redirected to another airport in Maui. When asked to changed my pick up to the new airport, they charged me with todays’s price. It didn’t matter if I had booked and paid this in advance(which was much lesser). Extra costs like one way fee etc was understandable, changing the daily charges from 40$ per day to 100$ per day is unacceptable.. the car they provided was clean and good but this place is clearly overpriced for emergency changes in schedules.

Mediocre|Mar. 2018We went to Kahului accidentally and reservation was in Lahaina. The agent was able to accomodate our reservation in Kahului.
The shuttle line from the airport was 1 hr. Long. We waited outside in the heat for another 45 min. on a list just to go inside. Then another 45 min. inside in line to meet an agent. Fortunately, our car was ready, but some folks were waiting another 45 min. For the car to be cleaned. We saw elderly people and pregnant women outside in the heat of mid afternoon. Disgraceful!

The counter person did very little to help and her attitude was poor as well. The car was supposed to be ready at noon and the paperwork was finished at noon but I was told the car wasn’t ready. I along with other customers had to wait about an hour making us late for a scheduled prepaid tour. Avoid Budget in Maui!
