Cheap Car Hire in North Carolina from $43

I did not get the vehicle I wanted. Instead of a subcompact (which can fit 5), I got a car for 4… there was not even a price difference. I believe I should've gotten some sort of reimbursement for having to sacrifice what I actually rented. I had to make double the trips.

Distance from terminal to rental was not ideal for 65+ adults.

The car was in poor mechanical condition and could impose a dangerous situation for an inexperienced driver. At some point I felt a little unsafe as the car was pulling to right at any given time.

When I got there they said it was a. Electric car and to change it would be $50 more per day. It was a bait and switch. I canceled.

Fantastic customer service, from the gentleman who helped set us up, to the young man who helped us get to our choice of vehicle. Just an all around great experience.

They didn’t have a car ready for us, but they didn’t tell us and sent us to a dirty car that had no keys and wasn’t ready to be rented. When we asked for a car we could actually drive, they were annoyed. They finally got us a car but then when we went to leave they said we couldn’t take it as it was a licensee vehicle. After and additional 30-45 minutes of waiting we were finally able to leave. Would not recommend.

Avis cancelled my reservation just 2 hours before pickup because they didn't have any cars. Zero inventory! I had the reservation for over a week and even checked in the day before with my credit card. Yet they waited until the day of pickup on a holiday weekend to inform me they have no cars! They had to have known that well before. They didn't attempt to find a location that had inventory for me, and instead gave me the customer support line which was completely unhelpful. My 80 yo father had to drive me 2 hours to find a vehicle same day from a different company. If you read the reviews on Google this apparently happens often and some times they don't even call to inform. I strongly suggest you remove the Avis in Raleigh on Glenwood Ave from your listing.

The tank was empty. Had no idea how far I could go and being unfamiliar with the area had to get off highway and find a gas station. When I asked about it I was told to refuel where where I thought the fuel gauge was when I got in the van. So I am bringing back on E. I put in one gallon when I reached my destination. The staff was fine. The location far from the airport (Raleigh). The car was semi-clean. I wanted a smaller vehicle but all they had were vans so spent more money on gas.

Avis policy prohibits the rental of a car without a return flight or major credit card. That was not disclosed at the time of reservation. The bigger issue was that the agent lied and said no rental car company in the airport would rent with one of those two things. Untrue! Dollar and Hertz both rented to the people the Avis agent turned away.

good on gas. sticker on windshield blocked some of the driver's view, empty cans in backseat, they demanded proof of my own personal car insurance or buy insurance from them and also demanded to see proof of my flight out BEFORE i could take the car. Nothing about this was on their website. upon return, we called as per instructions but no one picked up for 45 minutes. finally called corporate office and they told me to wait until the shuttle swings by, which it did. I called the rental office once more and FINALLY someone picked up but shuttle took 30 minutes for a 10 minute ride to the airport. At the drop off site, 12 other people were waiting for a ride to their flights. Five of them were in danger of missing their flights and took an uber. Badly run business, intrusive rental criteria, sloppy maintenance to the point of being dangerous (windshield obstruction). We can't recommend using this car rental company to anyone else for any reason, as their service is sub-par across the board.

Willie helped me so much! I booked a car for the wrong day. Totally my fault but he was able to accommodate me anyway. So grateful! They are my new go to when visiting Charlotte.
