“One of the joys of going to the movies was that it was trashy, and we should never lose that” said Oliver Stone.

The pop-up outdoor cinema at Camden Lock might not be the trashy experience that Oliver Stone is talking about, but this interactive, atmospheric, outdoor cinema will have its own rackety North London charm.

Over the next eight weeks Backyard Cinema will screen 20 shows on the iconic cobbles of Camden Lock Market. There’ll be 200 giant beanbag loungers and deck chairs to relax in while you watch a blockbuster movie selection on a four-metre-high screen with booming speakers.

It’s about more than the movies

Brewdog is the official drink sponsors and there’ll be 1950’s Usherettes serving the “beer for punks”.

Honest Burgers are the official food partners and their chefs have created a dedicated Backyard Burger cooked and served with their chips from the huge popup BBQ within the cinema (there are veggie options too).

Dominic Davies, Founder and Creator, says: “This year we wanted to go even bigger – more beanbags, bigger screen, more films and louder speakers.

“This is Backyard Cinema not the opera, lots of drinks, lots of food, a great movie in an iconic setting.”
