Cheap Flights to Williston

Williston overview

When is the best time to fly to Williston?

This is an excellent all year round destination. Summer occurs roughly between June and late August and sees high temperatures. There is no real high season, so accommodation should be cheap, and all of the outdoor activities can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Try a winter break in February to enjoy snow-based activities or visit in spring to see the national parks burst into life.

Williston overview

Williston is one of America's most welcoming towns, with great leisure options, fine dining and a huge variety of outdoor activities for visitors to enjoy.

There will always be something for families to try, no matter what the weather (and the weather in summer is generally excellent). Learn to shoot at the Skunk Hollow Range, go bowling at the Million Dollar Lanes or try your luck at the Four Bears Casino. And, for an all-American experience that is dying out, take a rental car and watch a movie at Williston's drive-in cinema on a hot summer night.

Sports lovers can play a round of golf at the well maintained municipal course, while the countryside around the city offers great fishing, canoeing and hunting territory. Try cross-country skiing and snow-mobiling during the winter, or soar over the region with a hot air balloon ride in the summer months.

It's not all about leisure though as Williston has some superb historical and cultural attractions to explore. Head to the Knife River Indian Villages to find out about Native American culture and visit Fort Buford to see how North Dakota came to be founded.

The city is also surrounded by pristine wilderness that cries out for hikers, horse riders, climbers and even cavers to visit. Attend astronomy festivals in the gorgeous surroundings of Theodore Roosevelt National Park and get close to local wildlife like elk and bison. Or visit more mysterious sites like the Writing Rock Historic Site, with its stone carvings that are over a thousand years old.

With the Missouri River on its doorstep, Williston is also fantastic for water sports. Fish, kayak and sail or take historic steam boat journeys. Any time of year, there will be something to enjoy.

Getting around Williston

Renting a car is essential if visitors want to make the most out of their stay in Williston, and the city seems designed for motorists. You can see local sights using taxis alone, but to reach sites like the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, a car is vital. Rent a vehicle with good handling and horsepower if you are visiting more remote spots.

Getting from the Airport to the City

Sloulin Field International Airport (ISN) is very close to the city centre and getting into town should be no problem at all. There are no regular bus services, but taxis will be available to meet any arrivals and may be the most convenient way to reach your accommodation (if shuttle buses are not provided). Car rental outlets are situated in the terminal as well.
