When is the best time to fly to Flint?
The hottest temperatures are in June, July and August. July has the added bonus of the city's extensive July 4th celebrations of American independence. A jazz festival takes place in August. The shoulder seasons, April to May and September to October, are ideal for a relaxed exploration of the city and its river on foot. The coolest temperatures are from November to March when the river can freeze over. This tends to be the best time to find cheaper flights and accommodation deals. Visitors may find this is the ideal time to take in Flint's cultural side, and to enjoy its restaurants and bars. A film festival which showcases movies made by Michigan film-makers takes place at the end of November.
Flint is a city of some 100,000 citizens in the state of Michigan in the north of the United States. For much of its history, it was a centre of the motor-manufacturing industry. The world headquarters of the Buick brand was in Flint. The film 'Roger and Me' charted the decline of the city's motor industry. The route takes visitors to the city's architectural landmarks, including its art deco skyscrapers. The Flint Cultural Centre is the location of a variety of museums and attractions. It was constructed in the city's boom years, during the 1950s and 1960s. The Institute of Arts has an impressive permanent collection. Among the star attractions are impressionist and post-impressionist paintings and a selection of 17th century French tapestries. The Buick Gallery and Research Centre is home to dozens of classic Buicks as well as several unique General Motors concept cars. The Whiting Auditorium regularly hosts Broadway musicals. Atwood Stadium is a large stadium where sports fans can enjoy games of semi-pro American football.
