City overview

On the surface Bacolod isn't much more than your classic seaport destination, but take a closer look and you'll see it's a dynamic city with an enviable cultural heritage and a lively festival atmosphere. There's a little something for everyone here, so you're sure to unearth a little slice of your own paradise in Bacolod.

Begin your adventure at the Public Plaza before heading to the San Sebastian Cathedral. This beautiful building has an equally impressive interior that's definitely worth seeing before heading on to the incredible Ruins in Talisay City. Surrounded by lush gardens lies the burnt out stone skeleton of an old sugar plantation. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch whilst you take in the incredible view. Once back in the centre of Bacolod, finish the day off in the Provincial Park, relaxing beside the man-made lagoon.

Don't leave this charming region without visiting both the Negros Museum and the Dizon Ramos Museum. A trip here gives a unique glimpse into the historical and artistic traditions of the Bacolod region, both past and present. Or if you prefer, visit the Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation or Mt. Kanla-on Natural Park to witness some of the areas most endangered species in their natural habitat. As well as plenty of shopping malls and even a waterpark on offer, Bacolod's Goldenfield Commercial Complex is the place to head when the sun goes down. It's the perfect spot to try a few traditional dishes whilst enjoying the local nightlife.
