Thai Airways Check-in
Internet check-in opens between 24 hours and two hours before departure. At the airport, check-in desks open three hours before scheduled departure and close 40 minutes before take-off.
Thai Airways baggage allowance
Hand luggage: One piece of cabin baggage weighing up to 7kg. The maximum dimensions should not exceed 56 x 45 x 25cm (22in x 18in x 10in).
Checked: Economy Class flyers may stow 20kg, Business Class (Royal Silk) passengers are allowed 30kg and First Class passengers are allowed to check 40kg of luggage. On US and Canadian flights, a Piece Concept is in use. Economy and Premium Economy travellers may check one piece weighing up to 20kg. Business-Class flyers may check two pieces (weighing up to 30kg) and First Class passengers may check two pieces (weighing up to 40kg).

Thai Airways legroom
86cm (34in) in Economy Class, 152cm (60in) in Royal Silk (Business Class) and 193cm (76in) in First Class.
Pre-arranged seating
Seats may be selected during the booking process, up to 48 hours before scheduled departure, at the airline's offices or at the check-in desk.
Passenger change details
The cheapest flights are restricted but "flexibility" can be purchased for a fee of $60 AUD, allowing passengers to change flight times and dates and cancel a flight (less a fee of $140 AUD).
Child fares
Contact Reservations on 1300 651 960 to make an infant booking. Children (2-11 years) fly for a discount of 25 per cent on the adult fare.
Senior fares
Thai Airways does not offer discounts for older travellers.
Pets
Pets are transported in the hold and are subject to excess baggage rates. The animals must be properly crated, export certificates and other permits must be obtained in advance and Thai Airways staff should be notified at least 48 hours before your flight.
Carrying musical instruments
Standard baggage conditions, including excess size and weight rules, apply to musical instruments. The airline warns that musical instruments may be among items unsuitable for checked baggage if they are fragile.
In-flight service
The Audio Visual On Demand (AVOD) entertainment system offers movies, music, TV programmes, news and travel information services and games.
Air miles
Royal Orchid Plus. Miles may be earned from Thai Airways flights as well as flights via other Star Alliance members and flights to Bangkok through certain other codeshare partners.

In-flight magazine
Sawasdee is Thai Airways’ in-flight magazine. The publication, whose name is a Thai greeting, contains a range of lifestyle and travel content as well as news and reviews relating to accommodation, nightlife, restaurants and other attractions. Sawasdee is read by around two million passengers per month.

Thai Airways is a founding member of Star Alliance. Partners include Lufthansa, United Airlines, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines and SAS Scandinavian Airlines.

The Thai national airline operates 43 flights a week from Australia to Thailand: two flights per day Sydney-Bangkok, Melbourne-Bangkok and daily non-stop flights on the Brisbane-Thailand route.
