Jetstar Check-in
Online check-in is available between 48 hours and one hour before take-off for domestic flights. For international flights (including Jetstar Asia flights), the check-in time is between 48 hours and two hours before the flight is scheduled to depart.
Check-in via kiosk is available at several airports including Melbourne (Tullamarine), Brisbane, Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown.
Passengers on some flights can only check-in at the airport. The check-in desks open two hours before departure for domestic flights (from domestic terminals) and close 30 minutes before departure. It's three hours for domestic flights (departing from international terminals) and desks close 60 minutes before the flight is scheduled to depart.
Jetstar baggage allowance
Hand luggage: The Starter fare includes 10kg of carry-on baggage - one main item and a small item such as a purse. Jetstar Pacific flyers may bring 7kg of cabin baggage. Business-Class passengers may bring two pieces of cabin luggage weighing up to 20kg (each piece should not exceed 10kg).
Checked luggage: Only Business-Class travellers have a free checked luggage allowance - 30kg. Extra allowance (up to 10kg) can be purchased. Travellers on Starter fares may purchase a checked baggage allowance. Between 15kg and 40kg can be purchased, 15kg costs $12 on short-haul domestic flights and rises to $35 for long-haul international flights. Buying 40kg of allowance costs $40 on short-haul flights and $70 on long-haul flights.
Excess: Travellers who have not purchased their baggage allowance before arriving at the airport will be subject to the higher excess baggage charges. These cost from $18 for 15kg of luggage on short-haul flights for Starter passengers. Business-Class passengers who need an extra 5kg will be charged $15 on short-haul domestic flights or $48 on long-haul trips.
Jetstar legroom
Extra legroom can be purchased for a fee. In Economy, the standard seat pitch is 71cm (28in) on A320 aircraft, 73cm (29in) on A321 aircraft and nearly 79cm (31in) on A330 aircraft. In Business Class, travellers can stretch out with 86cm (38in) of seat pitch.
Pre-arranged seating
Seats are allocated. Starter passengers may, for an extra fee, choose a window or an aisle seat. Starter Plus, Start Max and Business Class travellers may request any standard seat free of charge.
Passenger change details
Depends on the fare type. Starter fares have no flexibility. If you've bought a bundle - Plus or Max - you may be able to get a refund or change the name on the ticket free of charge.
Child fares
There is no discount for junior flyers.
Senior fares
Jetstar doesn't offer discounts for older travellers.
Pets
Jetstar does not accept reservations for pets on any of aircraft.
Carrying musical instruments
Large musical instruments are carried in the aircraft hold as checked baggage (depending on the fare class, fees apply).
In-flight service
If you have purchased a Business-Class fare or a bundle (Plus or Max) you'll receive a hot meal or snack and hot drink and non-alcoholic beverage. Those on Starter fares may purchase menu items onboard. In-flight entertainment (TV, movies, games etc) and comfort packs may be purchased.
